GEEN WOORD VOOR ONS (2017)

Still from the film Geen woord voor ons. It's a close up of Dung's face while he looks off screen in the distance.

Geen woord voor ons is the second short fiction film assignment of my second year at the Netherlands Film Academy. This assignment was shot on location and on 16 mm film. The crew had thirty minutes worth of celluloid and three days to shoot. The scriptwriters had no subject restrictions, but the maximum length was 5 minutes.

The film is about the parent whose child committed a school shooting. One day, he runs into a victim’s mother, and he finally questions himself. Does he hold responsibility for his son’s actions?
The director took a lot of inspiration from the film We Need To Talk About Kevin (Lynne Ramsay, 2011).
