Door het vuur is the third short documentary assignment I had in my second year at the Netherlands Film Academy. This assignment was shot on 16mm film. The crew had fifty minutes worth of celluloid film and three days to shoot. There were no subject restrictions, but the maximum length was 10 minutes. The director, Niels Beth, was inspired by the flipside of being a firefighter.

The film focuses on one firefighter and a traumatic experience while on duty. Even though it still affects his life, he keeps getting into that truck. We follow him on route to another assignment while he tells us his story.
