3″15 – no dialogue
Een Donker Uitzicht is the first short documentary assignment I had in my second year at the Netherlands Film Academy. The assignment was to make a five minute documentary about a place. The director, Lieke Heil, chose a darkroom.
The film is about the world created within a darkroom. In this documentary the room itself is the main character, looking at the photos it receives and trying to imagine the world they were took in. This can lead to distorted views of reality. After all, people only take pictures of moments they enjoy.
